The 18th edition qualification by City & Guilds has no prerequisites, which means the qualification is open to anyone who is over the age of 16 and looking to enhance their understanding of the IET wiring regulations. The qualification is aimed at practising electricians, trainees and associated trade professionals, including electrical engineers, contracts managers, designers, consultants, surveyors, builders and plumbers.

By gaining the City & Guilds 2382-22 qualification allows candidates to progress into employment or to the following City & Guilds qualifications:

  • City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Building Regulations for Electrical Installation Contractors in Dwellings (2393-10)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Initial Verification (2391-50)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection (2391-51)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Inspection and Testing (2391-52)

The Part P Domestic Electrical Qualification 2393-10 by City & Guilds has no prerequisites. The qualification is open to anyone in Bournemouth who is over the age of 18 and looking to enhance their understanding of the Building Regulations. The qualification is aimed at practising electricians, trainees and associated trade professionals, including handypersons, gas engineers, plumbers, landscapers, kitchen fitters and builders. And if you work or are involved in the electrical industry and undertaking work in a domestic setting, you will need to make sure you are working in accordance with the Building Regulations. By gaining the City & Guilds 2393-10 qualification, you are demonstrating you have a knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations and electrical safety.

This qualification is not only industry-recognised but is considered one of the most useful by practising electricians to help generate business. The public instantly recognises Part P as a benchmark that they expect an electrician to be working to. With this Part P qualification, candidates will not only make themselves more employable to prospective employers but also help generate work if looking to work as a self-employed person undertaking electrical work in a dwelling.

The City & Guilds 2393-10 qualification is also a great way to show academic competency when completing non-notifiable works within a dwelling. Many of our candidates are associated trade professionals such as plasterers, plumbers, builders, handy-persons, DIYers and property owners.

To undertake any electrical work within a dwelling, you must have practical knowledge and skills. Passing the C&G 2393-10 qualification alone only helps demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of your obligations electrically within a dwelling.

By gaining the City & Guilds 2393-10 qualification, candidates may like to consider progressing into employment or to the following City & Guilds qualifications:

  • City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Initial Verification (2391-50)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection (2391-51)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Inspection and Testing (2391-52)
  • City & Guilds Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Building Services Engineering (4467-04)

The ECS Labourer card signifies you are competent in assisting electricians with their electrical installations. Those holding an ECS Labourer Card are supervised during electrical works, thus ensuring safety and efficiency.

The ECS Labourers Card is used when individuals do not meet the qualification criteria of advanced cards, such as the JIB Gold Card. The Labourer Card provides a valuable opportunity for newcomers, trainees and those looking to start in the electrical industry. This intervention serves those aspiring to reach the pinnacle of the electrical industry to become a fully qualified electrician and gain a JIB Gold Card.

If you don’t already hold an approved qualification, you will need to complete an ECS-approved Health & Safety Course.

The Safety Pass Alliance (SPA) H&S Core Day is an approved ECS Health & Safety exemption and can be used to complete the ECS Labourers Card application process.
