18th Edition Wiring Regulations in Hull — BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 Now Available Online
Study online from Hull, Beverley, Cottingham, Hessle, Brough, Goole, Driffield, Hornsea and across East Yorkshire — City & Guilds 2382-26 with a local exam centre in the city centre
If you’re an electrician or electrical contractor working in Hull, Beverley, Cottingham, Hessle, Brough, Goole, Anlaby, Willerby or anywhere across East Yorkshire, the 18th Edition qualification has never been more relevant to your day-to-day work. Hull is in the midst of one of its most significant construction and regeneration periods in decades — and every project in that pipeline depends on qualified electrical professionals who hold a current certificate.
MJ Electrical Training delivers the City & Guilds 2382-26 examination — the qualification that certifies competence in BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, the IET Wiring Regulations — 100% online, self-paced, from anywhere in the UK. With a dedicated exam centre now open in Hull city centre, local candidates have everything they need on their doorstep.
Why Hull Electricians Need This Now
Hull’s regeneration pipeline is substantial and accelerating. The East Bank Urban Village — one of the city’s largest ever regeneration projects — has seen its first planning application submitted in 2026. The scheme, developed by Hull City Council in partnership with ECF (a joint venture between Homes England, Legal & General and Muse), will deliver around 850 new homes on the former industrial riverside opposite the Old Town, alongside commercial space, restaurants, green spaces and a new riverside promenade. The project is backed by £9.8 million in Levelling Up funding and forms part of the council’s target to build 2,500 new homes in the city centre.
That’s not the only project underway. The former Debenhams building on Prospect Street is currently being cleared for conversion into 178 city centre apartments, part of a wider £75 million investment by DBG Group. Albion Square and the Western Docklands are both identified in Hull’s 20-year City Centre Vision as major future development sites. Hull City Council is also running an £80.5 million engineering and regeneration professional services framework to support infrastructure improvement across the city through to 2029.
For electrical contractors across Hull and East Yorkshire, this sustained construction activity means one thing: being without a current BS 7671 qualification creates real risk. Both NICEIC and NAPIT require proof of current 18th Edition competence for approved contractor status. Amendment 4:2026, published in April 2026, is the current version of the standard — and it is the version being examined.
Sitting Your Exam in Hull
MJ Electrical Training now has a City & Guilds approved exam centre in Hull city centre. Exams are held weekly at Chariot House, 57 Carr Lane, Hull, HU1 3RF — a straightforward location to reach from across the city and from surrounding areas including Beverley, Cottingham, Hessle and Anlaby.
If you’d prefer not to travel, the home-based webcam exam remains available. You sit the paper from home, fully invigilated online, at a weekly slot that suits you. Results come through typically the same day either way.
Both options are included in the standard course price — £288.00 Inc VAT covers your course access and your exam fee in full.
How It Works
Once you book your place, you receive immediate access to the full online course — structured chapter by chapter to follow the layout of BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. The material is written for working electricians and contractors, not academics. It is practical, clearly structured and built around the open-book exam format so you know exactly what to expect on the day.
Most candidates complete the self-study in two to four weeks alongside full-time work. When you’re ready, you choose a weekly sitting — either at the Hull centre or via webcam at home — and take the two-hour open-book multiple-choice paper. Your result is typically available the same day.
Who Studies With MJ Electrical Training?
Hull candidates come from a wide range of backgrounds. Many are qualified electricians whose certificates have lapsed and who need to demonstrate current Amendment 4:2026 competence to their approving body before their next assessment. Others are improvers and second-fix operatives building their credentials ahead of an ECS Card application. Some are directly employed contractors who have been asked to evidence current BS 7671 knowledge before starting work on one of Hull’s growing number of new-build and regeneration sites.
Whatever the reason for studying, the outcome is the same: a recognised City & Guilds qualification that satisfies NICEIC, NAPIT and most approved contractor schemes across England and Wales.
